Sony’s always been pretty good about keeping their products cross-compatible. Odds are if you own one Sony product, you can link it up with another, unlocking a flurry of unspoken extra features that are both nifty and convenient.

Or they’re just completely useless.

But this doesn’t seem to be the case with Sony’s upcoming Aino phone. The new device can connect to your PS3 via Remote Play, allowing you to control your console from all ends of the Earth.

Using Wi-Fi or a 3G connection, you’ll have access to a number of your console’s features. This includes chatting with friends on the PSN, hard drive management/access on the go, and shopping at the PlayStation Store so you can download games while you’re away from home.

The new phone hits stores this October, meaning in a few short weeks, your PS3 will never have to leave your side—well, sorta.
