Sony to ship new multifunctional PS3 remote

If you own a full suite of Sony A/V gear ranging from the Bravia HDTV to a home theater system and PS3 console, this is definitely a remote worth checking out. The new CECH-ZRC1 has built-in infrared (IR) and Bluetooth connectivity to operate all these devices and comes loaded with specialized gaming controls. This clicker also runs on smaller AAA batteries compared with the older PS3-only. 

Treyarch Bolsters Black Ops Security on PS3

The PS3 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops will weather the hacking storm just fine, as Treyarch prepared for it in advance. Older Call of Duty games might be suffering because of the PS3 hacks right now, but Treyarch community manager, Josh Olin, says that the studio has reinforced Black Ops against them. Olin said that the hacks were a much bigger concern for Sony as a platform holder.

Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar has revealed that the developer wouldn’t mind a shot at cobbling together a modern day entry in the Call of Duty franchise. The firm has become synonymous with making the CoD games which are set predominantly in the past, while Infinity Ward handles the more contemporary efforts. However, speaking to Machinima, Vonderhaar said that the company would be up. 

Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta Is Live

The Killzone 3 online multiplayer beta, having previously been delayed just a tad bit, is finally live. So get on that PS3 and hit up the PlayStation Store’s main page, 3D or PlayStation Move categories to download the open beta. Featuring the Frozen Dam map level, you’ll be able to play all available modes, including the traditional Killzone Warzone mode where game objectives. 

Call of Duty NGP Not In Development By Treyarch

In speaking with gaming editor Simon Miller, Treyarch’s Community Manager Josh Olin confirmed his studio has no time to work on a Call of Duty for Sony’s NGP. “We’re not working on that at Treyarch. Personally I have not got my hands on the NGP yet. I wish I did. It looks really cool. With any new device that’s fresh there’s new material to work with. That is a new innovation. 

Tales of Graces F confirmed for PS3 North America

After much teasing, waiting, and months of long, painful torture, Namco Bandai has officially announced that Tales of Graces F will be coming to North America this year. No date has been revealed at this time, but the sole fact that Tales of Graces F will be coming to North America in 2011 is enough for any RPG hungry PS3 owner to get excited over. Tales of Graces F is an enhanced port.

Gamers on a forum accuse Sony of adding a rootkit to its latest version of PlayStation 3 firmware. Rootkits, in general, have a bad reputation. Security watchers often associate them with malware. In this case specifically, though, the alleged rootkit would allow Sony to peer into users’ system files without their knowledge. A user dubbed N.A., who first mentioned the alleged rootkit.

The next generation PlayStation Portable console was announced last week in Japan at the PlayStation Convention. Code named the NGP, this system has a lot to show off about. Sony has made the new NGP with less of an angular look on the sides much like the PSPGo system. What seems to be a reoccurring pattern of new firmware new hack has hit again with the PS3′s latest firmware version 3.56. The firmware version 3.56 was only released last week and was announced on a twitter feed by KaKaRo ToKs “pup from ps3utils and puppack/pupunpack from ps3tools in github.com/kakaroto can now pack/unpack 3.56 correctly.” Essentially this means that Sony is back. 

PS3 To Get Cloud Game Saving In OS Update
