PS4 To Not Come Out Until a “Significant Leap” Happens

Published by:

It doesn’t appear we will get to see the PlayStation 4 anytime soon. According to SCE chief executive Andrew House, Sony feels they have to make a “significant leap” from the PS3 before we see a PS4.

“The right time to talk about new advances in hardware is when you can demonstrate a significant leap on the current experience, and something that is going to be attractive.”

I have to take Sony’s side on this one. It would be a huge disappointment for the PlayStation 4 to be released with no major upgrade to the graphics like we saw from the PS2 to the PS3.

Rumors surfaced earlier today that THQ and WWE will be splitting ways after over a decade of working together.

Video game outlet RipTen reached out to THQ and they squashed the rumors and said their relationship with WWE has “never been stronger.”

“We are extremely pleased with our relationship with the WWE, and have an exclusive license for the brand through 2017.   Our recent videogame cover reveal for WWE ’13 on Monday Night Raw airing May 28, as well as WWE Superstar Sheamus’ recent appearance at E3 showcase examples of how well we are working collaboratively with the WWE.”

Sony Wants PS4 To Be The Best Console

Published by:

Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), said that their aim is to have the PlayStation 4 become the best console, not the first to launch or cheapest.

“We’ve never been first. We’ve never been cheapest, ” Tretton said. “It’s about being the best. If you can build a better machine, and it’s going to come out a little bit later, that’s better than rushing something to market that’s going to run out of gas for the long term.

“Ideally, in a perfect world, you want the best machine that ships first, that’s cheapest. But the number one goal is to be the best machine, and that’s what we’re always focused on.”

Sony Confirms PS4 Games In Development

Sony confirmed at E3 2012 that there are games in development for PlayStation 4.

“We’re not talking about when the machine is coming out, but I think anyone on the planet knows that, of course, games are in development.”

SCEA’s senior vice president Scott Rohde also commented on the PS4′s absence at E3.

“It’s just something that we didn’t feel was important to bring up this year. We had probably five or ten other games that probably deserved stage time today that didn’t get it.”
