Mass Effect 3 PS3 Demo To Be Available In February

Bioware confirmed Mass Effect 3 demo will be available for PlayStation 3 gamers on February 14 via PSN.

The demo will start with the game’s opening sequence as the Reapers begin their invasion of Earth. Mass Effect 3′s new multiplayer feature will also be available to play.

Those who activated their online pass for Battlefield 3 can download the demo on February 14, and the rest of the public will get access on February 17.

Executive producer Casey Hudson commented: “We are excited to be able to give gamers an expansive demo that will put them right on the front lines of this all-out galactic war.”

“The entire scale of the game is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. With its intense action, deep customisation and raw emotional power, Mass Effect 3 will deliver a spectacular action RPG experience to fans of the series and newcomers alike.”

Mortal Kombat Headed To PlayStation Vita

Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm confirmed that Mortal Kombat will be heading to PlayStation Vita in Spring 2012. The PS Vita version will feature exclusive content features for Sony’s handheld and new gameplay features.

“The NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011’s Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita.”

“The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform.”

Max Payne 3 Pushed Back to May 2012

Take-Two Interactive announced that Max Payne 3 will be pushed back from a March release to now May 15.

Max Payne is expected to generate $210-230 million. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on the delay, “”We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company.”

“Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar’s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.”

“With Max Payne 3 now slated for May, our robust lineup of upcoming releases for fiscal 2013 is even stronger, including BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops: The Line, XCOM, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and other titles yet to be announced for release that year.”

New Gran Turismo 5 DLC Out Next Week

Sony announced today that Gran Turismo 5 will receive a new DLC on January 17.

The Car Pack will be available for $5.99, and will include six new cars: The Lamborghini Aventador, Jaguar XJR-9 LM racecar, Aston Martin V12 Vantage, 66′ Volkswagen 1200, Mini Cooper S Countryman, and the Nissan Leaf.

The second piece of the DLC Route X test course will be for $3.99.

Sony Shoots Down PS4 E3 Rumors

Sony has shot down recent rumors of the PS4 being revealed at E3 later this year. Executive Deputy President of Sony, Kazuo Hirai, spoke at CES and repeated Sony’s stance that PlayStation 3 has a 10-year life cycle and they see no reason to rush out the PS4.

“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” said Hirai. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”

Starhawk To Have “Surprising Free DLC”

Lightbox has confirmed that there will be plenty of free downloadable content for Starhawk.

“Actually, I can’t go into specifics, but we do have a bunch of free DLC planned,” said Senior Producer Harvard Bonin, adding, “and it might be surprising.”

There will also be paid DLC. “We, of course, have stuff we are happy to take your money for, too,” he said.

“We rethought our DLC strategy and we’ll reveal more about it as we get closer to release.”

Starhawk’s open beta will be available within the next few months, and the game is due out in summer.
