Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi said in a interview with VG247 that Dead or Alive 5 will push PlayStation 3 to the limits.

“You see a lot of fighting games come out now that are really easy to pick up and play – and play online as well. Really simplistic fighting games. You just get ready and go,” he said.

“For us though, we thought ‘that’s okay,’ but we really wanted to bring a new dimension to fighting games. We wanted to evolve, and create something that really uses the current generation systems’ full potential.”

“What would a fighting game be like if you took the base of a fighting game, and upped that 100%? Used up all the machine power of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360?”

“That’s something that we wanted to do – something that you can’t really port onto a handheld, something that can only be done on these consoles.”

Dad or Alive 5 was announced in September and is due out in 2012. This will be the first Dead or Alive for PlayStation 3.

PlayStation 3 More Powerful Than Xbox 360 Says Developers

Published by:

The video game industry has been debating for years on which console has the the better graphics, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

Julien Merceron, Worldwide Technical Director for Square, decided to chip in his opinion on the console war.

“Some consumers could have gotten the feeling in 2006/2007 that – graphically – Xbox 360 games were more advanced, but today it is quite different in fact!”

“Personally, I’d say that – on PS3 – I believe there are some major improvements that can still be done, taking advantage of parallelisation and using more of the CPU for graphics tasks. At the end of current home Console life cycle, it is very possible consumers might get the feeling PS3 is slightly ahead of Xbox 360 in terms of graphics, but it will only happen if developers dedicate time to really push things on PS3!”

Yosuke Hayashi from Team Ninja also agrees that PlayStation 3 is more powerful than Xbox 360. “PS3 came out a year later than the X360.  Because of its later arrival, I would say that the PS3 has a slight advantage in performance,” he said.
