Gaming analyst Colin Sebastian believes Sony PS4 will see an earlier release date than Xbox 720.

In an interview with IndustryGamers, Sebastian commented, “I doubt they will be ready for launch in 2013. Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014. There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation.”

Sony has not publicly mentioned the PS4, and has made it clear the company is focused on supporting the PS3 and the upcoming next-gen handheld PlayStation Vita.

Develop is claiming that Sony has started work on PS4 game concepts.

They noted that various titles are at very early stages of development, and Sony’s first-party studios would go in full production once given the green light.

In February, SCE chairman Kaz Hirai said Sony was “not deliberating on PS4”.

In May, Sony’s CFO Masaru Kato explained to investors that “future platform” development work has caused a spike in R&D costs.

A spokesperson for Sony has declined to comment on this PS4 story.

Uncharated 3 Game Director Explains Why No Co-Op

no co-op uncharted 3

Uncharated 3′s game director, Justin Richmond, explained in a interview with IncGamers why there will be no campaign co-op in this years game, citing that “it makes it hard to tell a serious story.”

“The reason we haven’t included [co-op] so far is that, as far as the story is concerned, we want to be with Drake all of the time. We want to tell Drake’s story and we want to make players feel a certain way.”

Richmond acknowledges that co-op would bring a different vibe to the game but does not rule it out for future titles.

“Co-op, in general, tends to mess that up; it gives a totally different vibe. You know, it’s hard to tell a serious story when some other player is constantly chucking grenades at your feet. We’ve always had a story to tell and a way that we want to tell it. [Co-op] is something that I’m personally interested, and we’re not ruling it out for the future, but for these games so far we haven’t really wanted to do it.”
